BRIDGE TRAINING
Young women need support as they transition from school to the greater world outside. We have created a series of "bridges" to help them accomplish this often frightening move.
Orientation
When girls are selected as Afafanto Scholars, they meet for an orientation program in our offices with the Leah's Dream NGO staff. They receive their books and supplies and become familiar with each other and the expectations for high school.
Computer Training
During the second year, we offer computer training. Each girl receives their own email address and learn some basic skills. Mentors are available and they are encouraged to write to their mentors regularly.
Skills and Assertiveness Training
As their high school program is ending, we invite the third year students to learn a skill that they can use to earn money in the marketplace. We also offer intensive assertiveness training and counseling so that they can plan for their next steps.
