SAGNARIGU SHEA BUTTER COOPERATIVE
Shea Butter Cooperative
Supporting the work of women producing shea butter in Northern Ghana.

Women’s work. Shared opportunity.
In 2006, Leah worked with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Ghana, researching women’s leadership initiatives in Northern Ghana. She saw the shea butter business as a way to benefit women.
Through Emelia, Leah became friends with the women of the cooperative. Later, Leah’s mother, Sandee, met the same women and began buying the shea butter they produced.
The cooperative’s story connects Leah’s research and friendships with the organization’s support for women’s livelihoods. It remains part of the history behind Leah’s Dream’s community development work.
